Ahhh! It’s that time of year again when everyone can eat and eat and not feel guilty about it all. I love the smell of turkey in the oven and all the wonderful left overs the next few days after Thanksgiving. We get to indulge on cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Oh, my mouth is watering!
The doggies are not so lucky, because although they can eat turkey there are a few holiday foods they cannot. It’s very easy to just drop a bone and let them suck on it, chew it up and make them happy. However, poultry bones and ham bones are not very safe for doggies to eat. They are not easily digested. They can splinter and cause a serious rupture in the digestive tract. I for one would not want to spend my holiday in the Doggie ER.
Instead I like to bake them their very own Thanksgiving Turkey Treats. They are super easy to make and dogs absolutely loved them. If you feel like spoiling your four-pawed friend these are perfect and take little time to make.
Thanksgiving Turkey Dog Treats
1 ¾ cup garbanzo flour
3 – 4oz. jars of turkey baby food
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix garbanzo flour and baby food in a large bowl until you get a hard ball of dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough until you get a thin layer approximated ½ to ¼ inch thick. Cut dough with cookie cutters of your choice. Place cut outs on a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
